About me

As I embark on my journey to learn wireless and obtain certifications. I have decided to follow in the footsteps of many others who have taken the same path. It seems that writing a blog is a great way to keep track of your progress and engage with fellow professionals out there.

For several years I have worked in the Network Engineering field. My skills include Routing, Switching, Security and Voice. However, my knowledge in wireless networking has been on the weaker side in comparison to my other network skills.

Working on wireless with my current employer has given me a very basic introduction in to how to operate and maintain a Wi-Fi network. However, truly understanding how RF and a Wi-Fi network really work is something I am yet to learn. I would like to become an expert in this technology and attain industry certifcation such as CWNP’s CWNE and Cisco’s CCIE Wireless.

Wireless is already a prevalent and established technology, but from what I can see it is only going to be bigger and brighter in the future as fast, more reliable standards are being developed.

I have chosen to pursue wireless as the more I have worked with wireless technologies, the more I have gained a passion for them. From Wi-Fi design, site surveys, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting, I want to take the basics of what I know and really take it to the next level.
